Mortar in the
blood. Stone in the hands.
I started laying brick when I was seventeen.
My first summer was on a heritage restoration crew in Sydenham Ward — repointing a century-old façade one joint at a time. The lead mason was sixty-eight and could set a level course faster than three of us combined. I never forgot what he said: "the wall doesn't care how fast you're moving."
Seven years later I started Donny Masonry to do work the way that old mason taught me — slowly, carefully, and with materials that match what the building needs. Every job I take, I lead from the first measurement to the last tooled joint.
We're proudly based in Kingston, fully insured, and WSIB-compliant. Our work lives on homes from downtown Kingston to Bath and Amherstview, from heritage Victorians to brand-new builds. What ties them all together is the same: every stone placed by hand, every joint finished by someone who actually cares whether it lasts.
One mason, one job.
Donny is on every site, every day. No project managers, no rotating crews — the person who quotes is the person who builds.
Material first.
We choose mortar, brick, and stone for what they need to do for the next 50 years — not for what's on sale this week.
Heritage respect.
Old buildings need old techniques. Soft brick needs lime mortar. Cement on a 1900s façade is a slow death sentence — we won't do it.
Honest quotes.
If a project isn't right for us, we'll tell you. If it can be done cheaper without cutting corners, we'll show you.
